HANDEL’S MESSIAH (PREMIERED ON APRIL 13, 1742)
![]() |
And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. – Revelation 19 vs 6 (KJV) THE INSPIRING STORY OF HANDEL’S MESSIAH [PHOTO SOURCE: https://revelationcentral.com/the-story-of-handels-messiah/] |
On this date, April 13, 1742, Handel's Messiah was first performed in Dublin and received its London premiere a year later. Handel's Messiah is one of my favourite oratorios based on the bible. In memory of this famous oratorio, I will post five videos of Handel’s Messiah together with bible verses on music and quotes from Joshua Roman and Yo-Yo Ma.

2 And I heard a voice from heaven like the roar of many waters and like the sound of loud thunder. The voice I heard was like the sound of harpists playing on their harps, 3 and they were singing a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and before the elders. No one could learn that song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth. – Revelation 14:2-3 (ESV) [PHOTO SOURCE: https://bible.art/meaning/revelation-14%3A2-3] |

Psalm 33 vs 2 to 5 2Praise the LORD with melodies on the lyre; make music for him on the ten-stringed harp. 3Sing a new song of praise to him; play skillfully on the harp, and sing with joy. 4For the word of the LORD holds true, and we can trust everything he does. 5He loves whatever is just and good; the unfailing love of the LORD fills the earth. Music enhances the education of our children by helping them to make connections and broadening the depth with which they think and feel. If we are to hope for a society of culturally literate people, music must be a vital part of our children's education. - Yo-Yo Ma [PHOTO SOURCE: https://www.azquotes.com/quote/695017] |
Friendship arises out of mere companionship when two or more of the companions discover that they have in common some insight or interest or even taste which the others do not share and which, till that moment, each believed to be his own unique treasure (or burden). The typical expression of opening friendship would be something like, “What? You too? I thought I was the only one.” —C. S. Lewis, The Four Loves
